The Stimson Center launched Phase III of the Assistance Support Initiative (ASI) in October. In the coming months, the Stimson Center will seek to strengthen the ASI in several ways. Among other things, we will: Create an updated database (Version 2021) with new programs and projects for preventing and responding to proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery;
- Continue to incorporate feedback from interested parties, including the ASI Advisory Board, into this website to improve its utility;
- Develop several assistance partnership “success” stories; and,
- Map out the connections between United Nations Security Council resolution (UNSCR) 1540 assistance efforts and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Stimson Center aims to contribute the results of these efforts to the next Comprehensive Review of UNSCR 1540, scheduled for 2021.
