Project

Assistance to the Government of Moldova to Enhance CBRN Incident Preparedness and Response Capabilities

This project will assist the Government of Moldova (GoM) in safely storing and transporting Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) response materials. NDF will provide a mobile command unit to respond to CBRN incidents. This assistance reduces the risks that CBRN materials located throughout Moldova and separatist Transnistria pose to GoM personnel and support Moldovan institutional capacity in responding to CBRN incidents. The Moldovan Ministry of Interior (MOI) maintains close cooperation with the authorities in the separatist Transnistrian region on radiological source removal. Moldova’s single existing radiological source storage facility is located in Chisinau, and Moldovan authorities gain access to Transnistrian-controlled territory to remove sources and respond to incidents on an as-needed basis.
