Program

Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP): Bio-Surveillance Network of the Silk Road (BNSR)

This partnership between BTRP and the BNSR fosters dialogue on the establishment of sub-regional and bilateral systems for collaboration and information sharing.

The BNSR is a multi-national partnership aimed at improving regional disease surveillance, detection, and communication.

Through Cross Border Collaboration (CBC) workshops, teleconferences, and annual plenary meetings (APMs), experts across the one health domain engage on emerging and dangerous pathogens (EDP) outbreaks, expanding network systems for sub-regional and cross-border surveillance, and information sharing.

The BNSR provides its partners the ability to discuss ongoing research, methodologies and diagnostic protocols, and other collaboration training opportunities.

The collaboration networks enabled through the BNSR also fostered the formulation of several research concepts.

In 2020, BTRP facilitated a weekly BNSR Master Lecture Series on COVID-19-related topics. BTRP assisted the Lugar Center in food and animal health by establishing a BNSR-linked Center of Excellence (CoE) to more effectively leverage national and regional expertise in training, mentorship, research, and One Health. BTRP also facilitated a BNSR Community on the All Partners Access Network (APAN) where more than 300 health care professionals exchange information on current biothreats issues.
