Biosafety and Biosecurity Capacity Building at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention

This project is bolstering biosafety and biosecurity capabilities in Africa through support for the Africa CDC Secretariat, as well as Regional Collaborating Centres, National Public Health Institutes, and National Reference Laboratories across Africa. Project activities include: support for regional workshops and meetings to promote the establishment of a surveillance system for high consequence pathogens; the development of guidelines and training materials for surveillance of high consequence pathogens; and the development and implementation of Africa’s CDC’s five-year Strategic Plan for Biosafety and Biosecurity. This project supports the GP’s Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa.
