Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) – CBRN Forensics Training for Turkish Laboratory and Law Enforcement Personnel

This project brought together chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) scientists and first responders for trainings on CBRN evidence collection, processing equipment, and chain of custody procedures and protocols. Through a series of classroom lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and table-top exercises, the Turkish participants gained expert knowledge on advanced sensitive site exploitation and CBRN sampling, forensic science, chain-of-custody procedures, and promoting the prevention, investigation and containment of biological and chemical terrorism plots. This training will improve both coordination and standardization of forensics and chain of custody procedures between the Turkish stakeholder groups, thereby improving Turkey’s capacity to prevent, disrupt, and contain a bioterrorism incident.
