Biosecurity in East Africa

This project aimed to strengthen biosafety and biosecurity capacities in East Africa and to develop suitable training programs for local partners with specific needs in the direction of health security. Project activities have included: supporting a harmonized national biorisk management curriculum development in Kenya, the initiation processes of a National Inventory of Dangerous Pathogens in Kenya and Tanzania, actual lab trainings at the National Veterinary Institute of Kenya, and the provision of a secretarial and chair role for the Action Package Prevent 3 ‘Biosafety and Biosecurity’ within the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA).
