Project

Building Technical Capacity of Law Enforcement to Conduct Cyber-Enabled Investigations

This program will enhance the ability of experienced investigators and key law enforcement (LE) stakeholders to use web-based tools to identify, assess, and investigate WMD terrorism threats and potential plots. Through presentations, demonstrations, discussions, and case studies, participants will gain a broad perspective on cyber investigations and how they complement and enhance criminal investigations. Participants will learn to:

  1. Utilize advanced investigative techniques on public search engines;
  2. Use open-source tools to collect, analyze, and preserve evidence in a social media or other type of online investigation;
  3. Identify, install, configure, and use multiple tools;
  4. Organize and present investigative findings. This iteration will also include a regional training to enhance the ability of investigators to use web-based tools to identify, assess, and investigate WMD terrorism threats and share best practices for information sharing.
