Project

CBRN Incident Response Support to G5 Sahel Region and Côte d’Ivoire

This project consists in building capacity in the fight again terrorism in the Sahel region. It is a second step of a larger partnership between France and Interpol that goes after an initial program, implemented in 2021-2022 in the same countries, by Interpol and funded by France.

The first program aimed at developing, in coordination with national first responders in the police or the civil protection, pedagogical tools that are to be included in their future initial trainings with regards to intervention in case of a CBRN incident. The second phase now aims at ensuring that these pedagogical tools are indeed included in the initial trainings proposed by the targeted countries. To do so, Interpol will accompany the referents, who were trained last year, in implementing these pedagogical tools in their own countries, within their initial trainings, in a “train the trainers” rationale.

As part of this project, INTERPOL will develop a national CBRN assessment capability, which will then feed into its intelligence-driven programming.
