Container Security Initiative

The Container Security Initiative proposes a security regime to ensure all containers that pose a potential risk for terrorism are identified and inspected at foreign ports before they are placed on vessels destined for the United States. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has stationed teams of American CBP Officers in foreign locations to work together with host foreign government counterparts to target and pre-screen containers destined for the United States.
