Council Joint Action 2008/307/CFSP in Support of the World Health Organization Activities in the Area of Laboratory Biosafety and Biosecurity

The objective of this assistance activity was to raise awareness regarding the security of biological agents within laboratories and related facilities, and to implement the Biological and Toxins Weapons Convention (BTWC) more fully. Specific projects to achieve this included: developing more laboratories with greater safety measures, and encouraging dialogue concerning bio-risk reduction management through regional workshops in different Member States.
