Emerging Pandemic Threats Plus (EPT Plus)

EPT Plus was designed to collect longitudinal data on influenza viruses circulating in farmed animals, including swine, poultry, and farmed wild birds. The data generated was used to fill in some of the current gaps in influenza surveillance and contributed to a better understanding of how and where new influenza variants arise, which aided in USAID’s efforts to rapidly detect and respond to microbes with pandemic potential that circulate in animals which have frequent interactions with people.
