Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) Countermeasures

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) conducted collaborative research with Agricultural Research Council in South Africa to identify Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) antigenic epitopes. This research also aimed to improve the infectious cDNA technology to produce recombinant Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus with advanced biological properties and antigenic coverage as seed viruses in the production of inactivated vaccine antigens.
