Global Material Security (GMS) Program – International Nuclear Security: Strengthening Global Nuclear Security Practices

This project provides the expertise, tools, and systematic approach necessary to improve and sustain effective nuclear security. The United States National Nuclear Security Administration achieves this objective by: 1) providing technical support for the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) efforts to improve nuclear security worldwide through the development of guidelines and training, conducting training activities, and International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) missions; and 2) coordinating with partner organizations to develop and foster the adoption of effective nuclear security technical and performance standards and guidelines for material in use, storage, and transport.
