Global Threat Reduction Programme (GTRP) – Andreeva Bay

This project contributed to international efforts to retrieve and secure fissile material that was stored at the former Soviet Union naval base at Andreeva Bay in Russia. Project activities included: constructing and installing infrastructure for the protection of workers and the environment from radioactive contamination, construction of a temporary weatherproof cover over the least protected Dry Storage Units (DSUs), installing biological shielding over the DSUs, and constructing a maintenance and decontamination facility. This project also designed and built infrastructure for the management of nuclear and radioactive materials at Andreeva Bay.
