Global Threat Reduction Programme (GTRP) – Enhancing Security of Georgia Radioactive Waste Storage Facility

This project worked to address the shortfalls at Georgia’s radioactive waste disposal facility, including: erecting a perimeter fence and fates around the entire site, linking the site to the national power grid to provide power for future civil works, and providing a reliable water supply to support future civil works and decontamination and washing. This project also worked with the Georgian authorities to establish a framework for an independent ‘radioactive waste management agency’, which is responsible for operating the waste facility.
