Improving the Preparedness of the United Nations Secretariat and Relevant International Organizations to Ensure a Coordinated International Response to Potential Biological and Chemical Weapons Use

The project aims to enhance the level of preparedness and coordination of the United Nations Secretariat and other relevant international organizations to respond to incidents related to the potential development, production, and stockpiling of such agents that may precede use of biological and chemical weapons.

Sub-project 1 consists of four thematic seminars in Geneva and four workshops in Asia, which aim to provide coordination guidance in response to deliberate biological weapons events.

Sub-project 2 consists of three outreach events and one table-top exercise, which aims to improve the United Nations Secretary-General’s Mechanism for investigation of alleged use of chemical and biological weapons.
