Integrating States Signatories in Africa to Fully Participate in and Contribute to the Implementation of the CTBTO Monitoring and Verification System

This project aimed to improve participation by African States in the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) verification system and its scientific benefits by providing beneficiary States with sufficient knowledge and assistance for the building and/or improving their own National Data Centres’ (NDC) capabilities, as well as a training programme for NDC staff. It also included a strong component on International Monitoring System (IMS) Station Operation practices. Additionally, the project involved the extended presence of technical experts in each beneficiary State, who served as regional Focal Points (FPs). Targeted training and technical assistance activities were provided regarding the establishment of NDCs and Secure Signatory Accounts (SSAs).
