International Biological Security Programme (IBSP) – Strengthening Biological Security and Safety in Tajikistan Phase II

This project focused on brucellosis, and resulted in: 1) engagement with Tajik scientists and institutes; 2) improvements to safety and biosecurity in laboratories, hospitals, and clinics; 3) a more accurate understanding of the extent of brucellosis in humans and animals in Tajikistan and the presence of the pathogen in dairy products; and 4) the development and strengthening of linkages between the animal and human health sectors in this area, which improves the ability to detect and respond to both deliberate releases and natural outbreaks of the disease.
