Project

Iraq Airport and Aviation Security Initiative

CM was responsible for shaping, coordinating, and facilitating USG and GOI stakeholder meetings and an initial equipment training mission in support of ECC/EXBS’ Iraq Airport Security Project. TCM was tasked to oversee coordination among Iraqi stakeholders representing Basra, Erbil, and Baghdad international airports, as well as representatives of the Iraq Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) to understand and validate Iraq airport security training and equipment requirements, gaps, and priorities. Following the assessment and validation phase, goals included supporting them to achieve ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) international standards, and following the NCASP (National Civil Aviation Programme) regulatory framework to identify and mitigate against risk reduction measures. This effort involved site surveys, physical security and policy assessments, equipment enhancement, training, and regulatory review in coordination with the Iraqi National Aviation Authority in addition to the US Embassy and other participating organizations. TCM and partners sourced international aviation and security expertise and are using the NCASP to achieve international standards.
