The United States Department of Energy develops policy and provides targeted emergency preparedness capacity-building training to counter and respond to nuclear and radiological incidents, accidents, and terror threats through:

  • Multilateral and bilateral policy coordination;
  • Support to international organizations;
  • International nuclear and radiological response training;
  • Strategic partnerships and workshops;
  • Multilateral and bilateral scenario-based policy discussions;
  • International tabletop exercises;
  • Equipment loans;
  • Information exchange;
  • Operational support and preparedness training for major international public events; and
  • Technical support, reach-back, and international emergency assistance.
