Project

OPCW-United Nations (UN) Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) Investigations Relating to Chemical Weapons Use in Syria

Canada’s funding supported the JIM liquidation phase of the project (administrative and financial activities) as it closed out its mandate, as well as supporting a lessons-learned exercise to distil the experience of the JIM into transferable lessons for future activities. The remaining funding will support the full operability of the Secretary-General’s Mechanism for investigation of the alleged use of chemical, biological and toxin weapons, further to the authority given to the Secretary-General by United Nations General Assembly resolution 42/37 C led by UNODA.
