Project

Regional Secretariat for South East and Eastern Europe (SEEE) for the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative

Georgia is one of the leading partner countries for the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative that is funded and implemented by the European Union through the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP).

The CBRN CoE network consists of 61 Partner Countries grouped in 8 Regions with each region facilitated by a Regional Secretariat. Since 2013, Georgia has been hosting the Regional Secretariat for South East and Eastern Europe (SEEE) that brings together and coordinates the implementation of activities for a total of 10 partner countries in the SEEE region. The office for the Regional Secretariat is provided free of charge by the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).

The CBRN CoE Regional Secretariat in Tbilisi, located at the premises of the SSSG, contributes to advancing existing capabilities with a focus on common CBRN safety and security risks, challenges, and mitigation opportunities shared by ten member states. The wide range of such mitigation activities includes needs and risk assessments, national and regional action plans, trainings (including Training of Trainers modules), and tabletop and real-time (including cross-border) field exercises.

Georgia, as the first partner country of the EU CBRN CoE to develop and adopt its CBRN National Action Plan (NAP) sets an example for the Initiative’s member countries in the SEEE region as well as in seven other regions.
