Project

Replacement of the Large Geometry-Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (LG-SIMS) in the Environmental Sample Analysis Laboratory of the IAEA

The large geometry-secondary ion mass spectrometry (LG-SIMS) method is of paramount importance for particle analysis of environmental samples. The current LG-SIMS went into operation in 2010. With an anticipated lifespan of 13-16 years, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has planned to replace it, tentatively by 2023 with Japan and others’ contributions.
