Security Upgrade of Facilities in Iraq

The United Kingdom has made a contribution to a larger United States Department of Defense-led biological security project in Iraq. UK funding is being focussed on bio-science facilities in Iraq that contain pathogens of security concern and are in need of physical security upgrades. Despite some delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project continues to improve local capabilities to deny terrorists access to the materials of concern and manage biological risks with potential international impact.
