Support for UNSCR 1540 Implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean – Phase 2

This project supports Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname to fulfill United Nations Security Council resolution 1540 obligations by: 1) providing legal assistance; 2) providing specialized training, practical tools and assistance in drafting and implementing Voluntary National Actions Plans, with an emphasis on strengthening inter-institutional and/or multi-sectorial mechanisms and responses to facilitate implementation of these National Action Plans; and 3) conducting a Caribbean-wide regional workshop on focus lists and licensing practices for proliferation-sensitive items to stimulate a dialogue on how to accomplish effective and harmonized strategic trade controls.
