Enhancing Chemical Incident Response Capabilities in Iraq

This project is supporting the Government of Iraq to increase incident prevention and response capacities by enhancing interagency structures and coordination mechanisms, securing vulnerable chemicals in high risk facilities, and building training capacity to strengthen prevention and response capabilities (via training, workshops, roundtables / meetings and tabletop exercises). It will likewise enhance the security of “precursor” chemicals (i.e. chemicals that can be used to produce weapons), improve coordination with and capabilities of first responders, build the capacity of Iraqi academic, governmental, and professional bodies to conduct chemical security training (using local and regional resources) and promote chemical security culture and best practices.
