Support to the OPCW to Increase Interagency Cooperation by Assisting their Rapid Response Assistance Mechanism

This project supported Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and a part of the efforts of the OPCW’s Technical Secretariat to fulfill its role in providing emergency measures of assistance to State Parties. The Secretariat enhanced its capacity to provide emergency measures by establishing a Rapid Response Assistance Mission (RRAM) that can be deployed at short notice and assist States Parties affected by an incident of alleged use of chemical weapons by a non-state actor. The establishment of a RRAM also enhanced the Secretariat‚Äôs readiness to conduct investigations of alleged use of chemical weapons.
