Project

Supporting Effective Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 in Pacific Island Nations

This project is aimed at engaging with Fiji and other Pacific Island Nations to build their domestic and regional capacity to meet the requirements of UNSCR1540, specifically in respect to Operative Paragraphs (OP)-3(c) Border Control & Law Enforcement, OP- 3(d) Export & Transhipment Controls, and OP-6 Control Lists.

Activities will build up regional capacity, foster regional collaboration and strengthen international engagement in support of accepted international rules and standards, as well as develop a greater understanding of the unique challenges faced by the smaller (particularly island) states in implementing UNSCR1540 given limited resources (and other challenges such as maritime profile).
