T2198 – Molecular Characterisation of Field Isolates and Improving Surveillance for Rabies

This project trained scientists in safe and effective surveillance and diagnostic approaches by using internationally recognized diagnostic procedures. This project aimed to improve biosafety and biosecurity in collaborating institutes by providing: 1) tools and training to embed molecular diagnostic techniques to internationally recognised standards; 2) improvements in surveillance both in animals and people; 3) training and equipment for enhanced biosecurity and biosafety; and 4) public engagement activities that inform of national disease control strategies and enhance overall public disease awareness.
