The Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs)

GF-TADs was launched in 2004. GF-TADs is a joint initiative of FAO and WOAH, with the expected participation of WHO for the zoonoses, to achieve the prevention, detection and control of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) and in particular to address their original and global dimensions. GF-TADs is a facilitating mechanism which will endeavor to empower regional alliances in the fight against transboundary animal diseases (TADs), to provide for capacity building and to assist in establishing programs for the specific control of certain TADs based on regional priorities. In Europe the following diseases are prioritized: African Swine Fever, Lumpy Skin disease, rabies, and on a secondary level FMD, Avian Influenza, Brucellosis and Pestes de Petit Ruminants. They provide a variety of capacity building training and learning programs.
