Universalization and Effective Implementation of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention in Africa

Through targeted outreach activities at the policymaker level (i.e. public representatives, parliamentarians, and decision makers in Africa), this project is encouraging and assisting the eight African states currently not party to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), to ratify or accede. To promote effective implementation of the Convention, assistance is being provided for the development of BTWC implementing legislation; preparation and submission of Confidence-Building Measures; and to facilitate the establishment or designation of National Contact Points.
