Virtual Sustainability: Sustaining Radiological/Nuclear (R/N) Security Systems through Budget and Lifecycle Planning

The virtual Sustainability engagement focused on budget and lifecycle planning related to the sustainability of R/N security systems. 68 participants from 23 countries identified best practices for security systems, equipment maintenance and lifecycle, and recapitalization budgeting. The United States Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facilitated an interactive budget allocation game to reinforce critical budget planning considerations. The game concluded with a summary of outcomes that labeled areas of success and improvement to better prioritize sustainable funding for R/N security systems.
