Workshop on Safeguards in Jordan

The workshop explained: 1) the concept of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) safeguards, especially matters related to shifting from a Small Quantities Protocol (SQP) to a regular Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA); 2) the reporting that the Additional Protocol (AP) requires for Jordan’s plan to mine their uranium resources; 3) the current status of nuclear-power development in Jordan; and 4) the current measures taken in the safeguards field. The specific subjects included the contents of the safeguards reports to be submitted to the IAEA and case studies of transfers of various nuclear materials.
