International Biological Security Programme (IBSP)

The International Biological Security Programme (IBSP) seeks to improve international biosecurity and biosafety. This programme promotes cooperation to combat infectious disease, improves education on and promotes awareness of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), and explains the risks arising from the misuse of biological science. Additionally, this programme strengthens capacity overseas to detect, identify, and secure dangerous pathogens, and can help prevent and contain disease outbreaks of both natural and deliberate origin, and reduce the risk that they become international concerns.
