One Health Surveillance Network for Transboundary Outbreaks Between Somalia and Kenya

The United States implemented a project to join the Somalia One Health Technical Working Group (SOH-TWG) with representatives from the Kenya Zoonotic Disease Unit (Kenya-ZDU). Officials developed operational plans for transboundary Rift Valley Fever and Brucellosis outbreaks during a January 2018 meeting. The operational plans were exercised during a second meeting in December 2018, where SOH-TWG and Kenya-ZDU officials ran a field-based workshop. This project has resulted in increased biosecurity coordination and cooperation between Somalia and Kenya, which has improved trans-boundary One Health surveillance.
