Development of a Compendium of Chemical Weapon Legal Measures to Secure Chemical Weapons-related Materials and Facilities to Assist State Parties in Fulfilling their Obligations Under the CWC

Canada is supporting The Henry L. Stimson Center to develop a compendium of legal measures that States Parties can use to secure chemical weapon-related materials and facilities. Key activities and milestones will include: 1) development of a compendium of existing national legal frameworks for chemical security among States Parties; 2) recommendations for the development of international chemical security standards, 3) creation of an online tool to search the compendium and international standards; 4) outreach with international bodies, national regulatory authorities, industry and civil society on the tool, practices, standards and project recommendations; and 5) raise awareness about the need to improve the security of chemical weapons-related materials and the establishment of the online tool for prioritizing gaps in the global chemical security infrastructure.
