Tools and Programming to Support the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 Obligations

Canada is supporting The Henry L. Stimson Center to deliver two initiatives: 1) the Assistance Support Initiative (ASI), and 2) Security and Trade Efficiency Platform (STEP). The ASI project involves reaching out to existing and prospective nonproliferation assistance providers and implementers to populate the database with new and/or updated programs, projects, and other assistance opportunities, while refining the online tool based on feedback received from States seeking assistance and from assistance providers and implementers. The STEP project will analyze the WMD proliferation threat landscape in Southeast Asia, and determine where targeted Security and Trade Efficiency Platform assistance can make the most impact. This project will lead to in-depth engagement with government and industry actors to better understand their roles in enforcing relevant regulation and operational processes that secure and optimize the supply chain, serving as a role model for the region.
