United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Strengthening Legal Frameworks Phase I

This program promoted the global need for the ratification of, and increased adherence to, the international legal framework against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) terrorism and its legislative implementation. An international workshop was conducted on the universalization of: 1) the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism (ICSANT); 2) the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM); and 3) its 2005 Amendment (CPPNM/A). This was for the 35 countries that are not parties to any of the three instruments, and offer support services during the implementation process. This program also developed, produced and delivered a tri-lingual e-learning module on the international legal framework against CBRN terrorism to train relevant officials on the international legal frameworks and the required domestic legislation.
